Surface lava activity had slowed this morning in the Leilani Estates subdivision on the Big Island of Hawaii. But flows have crossed the Pohoiki Road and come to within a quarter mile of the Puna Ventures Geothermal property The hot rock that recently entered the Lani Puna Gardens subdivision (both to the east of Leilani Estates), has apparently stalled. Several other fissures have opened up on and above Highway 130, southeast of Leilani. There is no active surface lava currently in the subdivision itself. Todays overflight again revealed a long line of steaming fissures, but perhaps a bit less active than two days ago. Hopefully we can assess the damage from the air tomorrow morning.
